VISITING THE PICTURESQUE METHONI

Methoni is located at the southwestern edge of the prefecture of Messinia, at a distance of 79 km from Searocks Villas Exclusive Resort. It is built on the ruins of the ancient city of Methoni, and is one of the most historic towns in the Peloponnese, famous for its strategic and commercial port. Its imposing Venetian castle, one of the largest in the Mediterranean, is well-known for offering fortification during the Middle Ages and Ottoman rule. For this reason, many peoples tried to conquer it over the centuries, including the Franks, the Venetians and the Ottomans. Methoni is home to a collection of stunning beaches, sandy or pebbly, vibrant or peaceful and isolated. Here, visitors can swim in clear blue Ionian waters, enjoying the sun and indulging in water sports for moments of fun and relaxation.
